Agriculture Glossary and Troubleshooting
Most cross-screen discrepancies start with a difference in period, quantity basis or record scope. Check those first. A crew-day total, a harvest lot and a crop-period total can all be correct without being equal.
Before you begin
Have the crop, logical land, lot, period and source references available. Record the exact figure and exception rather than relying on a screenshot of the total alone.
Procedure
- At the farm review, address late work, overdue activities, inspection queues, rework and water exceptions.
- At harvest, reconcile picker quantities, bucket conversion, block assignment and incentive settings.
- At the packhouse, account for grades and losses, review ageing stock and confirm lot-to-delivery links.
- At close, review budget commitments, missing allocation drivers, intermediate balances and unusual crop-cost movements.
- For management reporting, separate production, grade yield, selling cost and price effects before agreeing corrective action.
Responsibilities and follow-up
Assign each exception to an owner with the supporting record and required follow-up. These are recommended review practices, not additional system workflow stages.
Common questions
| Question | What to check |
|---|---|
| The screen I want is not in the dropdown | Look at the adjacent named shortcut and current page title |
| A season has no yield | Check whether it is fallow or not yet harvested |
| Water cost is zero on fallow land but WIP exists | Water and area are separate allocation bases |
| A job says Accepted in one place and REDO in another | Read the complete trail and distinguish operations acceptance from inspection outcome |
| Harvest kilograms do not equal the packhouse lot | Confirm whether one screen is a crew/day total and the other a single lot |
| Pack-out does not equal Class 1 ÷ harvest | Check the displayed denominator; the example excludes spoilage |
| Packed and stock quantities do not add to harvest | Avoid double-counting stock already included in packed quantity |
| A crop has cost but no sales | Review the crop period and production stage |
| The run screen is Open but reports show allocations | The demo presents analytical calculations separately; verify real posting state in production |
| A machine says Own and Replace | Hourly economics and long-term condition are different decisions |
Business glossary
| Term | Meaning in this guide |
|---|---|
| Physical parcel | The permanent land record |
| Logical land | The season-specific child carrying crop cost and yield |
| Pivot | A field irrigation circle and associated land record |
| Orchard block | A perennial planting parcel with area and age |
| Fallow | Land deliberately resting from cropping |
| Bearing / growing | Productive orchard stage versus pre-bearing growth stage |

| Intermediate cost centre | Temporary collection point before allocation |
| Driver / basis | The measure used to split a cost, such as m³, hectares, hours or a rate |
| WIP | Work in progress; here includes unplanted-land cost waiting for the crop destination |
| Pack-out | The displayed grade yield percentage, requiring an explicit denominator |
| Mass balance | Reconciliation of input weight with all output and remaining-weight categories |
| Absorbed hours | The portion of standard machine capacity used for allocation in the displayed model |
| MT / ha / m³ | Metric tonnes / hectares / cubic metres |
Important notes
Do not change a threshold or source record merely to remove a dashboard exception. Establish the cause, obtain the appropriate business decision and retain the supporting record.
