Reviewing installment deductions and discounts
An installment deduction records a proposed reduction to selected obligations, such as an approved correction, discount, or negotiated settlement. It should preserve the reason and approval trail.
Navigation: Launch page > Collections & PDC > Installment deductions > New or Browse.
Before you begin
Confirm the reservation, affected installments, approved commercial basis, validity period, and current payment position.
Procedure
- In Reservation & Reason, select the reservation and the appropriate reason. Available reasons include Correction, Early Payment Discount, Early Settlement Request, Management Approval, and Negotiated Settlement.
- Enter the request date, validity date, and explanatory memo. Decide whether past-due installments belong in the scope of the request.
- In Installments, review the affected obligations and proposed deduction amounts against the approval evidence.
- In Review, confirm the effect on the customer balance before submitting through the applicable workflow.
- Check the resulting status and related records. Reconcile the updated statement after the approved change is processed.
Result
The customer balance adjustment remains linked to an explicit business reason and the affected obligations.
Important
A deduction is not a receipt and does not represent collected money. Avoid using a deduction to hide an unapplied receipt or an incorrect customer allocation. Check validity dates before relying on a settlement offer.
